Racism Alive and Well, But Where?

One thing that always amuses me about American media is the quick and overpowering response to news that is generally negative about American problems, but if worse things happen in the enlightened land of Europe, narry a word is mentioned in the Big Media.

A few weeks back I was watching Real Sports on HBO. Bryant Gumball was reporting as usual on race in sports. While normally I get sick of hearing about it from him, b/c he is constantly speaking about the injustices of Race in American sports, I listened b/c it was an actual up to date story about race today. This time there were no anecdotes from athletes who performed in the 40s or 50s, Gumball does an interview with Theirry Henry, the French international superstar and Arsenal Captain. Bryant discusses with Henry how there is not only covert racism, but actual regular racist chants and gestures occur at nearly every game. This unfortunately is rarely reported outside the sports media.

Yesterday Samuel Eto the Barcelona striker nearly walked off the field during league play in Spain. He was coerced to remain on the field by teammates and coaches. This story if it happened during an American football or basketball pro-game would have made every newspaper in this country headlines. It would be discussed for weeks on television media and congressional hearings would take place. Funny though, not a word is mentioned outside the sports media here in the states. Are you kidding me? This should be a huge story, but it is not even mentioned?

What is up with the Media? Why don't they report this? Why is it acceptable for European whites to be Blatantly racist, but in America the evil empire, the creator of all ills, it is reported that if Rush Limbaugh makes a comment about the media wanting black quarterbacks to succeed, regardless of results, as racist. This news made headlines for weeks and just shows that there is a bias against this country in our media. You reporters out there should be riding this like cowboys and showing some balance. You fear a backlash from pseudo-intellectuals who want to beleive that Europe is so much more advanced than the US.

Where the F%$# is Jesse Jackson on this. If this were Donovan McNabb (sp?) He would have the Rainbow Push en masse with the blackmail account numbers ready for the Spanish Football Association to make the payoff.

Is the End Near?

I have struggled recently with world events lately and that damned Andrew West at Spelunking has got me spinning with thoughts about the globalists and terrorists and UFO's While I tend to be very positive about the US government as of late I can not help but think that it just doesn't matter what we do at this point. The rest of the world will always hate us. Maybe ole Pat Buchannan is right. Maybe we should put the concrete fence up and cut off all trade with foreign nations and let the rest of the world do whatever it is going to do.

I just have trouble accepting what the End is. I asked AWG cause I just don't understand what Bush's motivation would be. Is it to get richer? Is it truly evil and that he wants a world war? If so what would he gain by it?

Regardless what you think about Bush one thing is clear, America is a polarizing force in the world and Americans, regardless of their political bent will be the object of much of the worlds contempt. They will hate you, Left and Right, b/c you are rich, educated, religious, not religious enough, wrong religion, up tight, liberal, emperialistic, isolationist bastards. If you leave this country and travel abroad you see that it does not matter what you profess, you are who you are, AMERICAN... You will suffer their wrath even if you denounce this country and whatever it stands for.

What separates us from the world is exactly what causes us to succeed. The inextiguishable burning to be free. I fear that the end is more of what we are heaping on ourselves than what the world is heaping on us. We have a failed Social Security System. Do any of you actually think that the program is worth a damn? I know I would love to take that money and just put it into some mutual funds that will actually make me money. Why don't we have that CHOICE?
The tax system, where do I start. Lets keep it simple, why not a flat tax? Why not a sales tax? I hate friggin doing my taxes!!! I hate that I am too damn lazy to spend the three weeks pouring over every possible receipt that I might be able to squeez another deduction. I want to get a card from the govt that says Income_________ 14%fed tax______.

I think the more we heap on with spending and entitlements the closer we get to the END. Oh yeah The End Looks more like East Germany circa 1980 rather than Iraq today.

Eastern Europe 2007 or 2008

Well Kids: The jury is still out, but due to the success of the Cline wedding as well as a passion for Europe, I think the next big reunion other than the Telluride trip, will be an eastern European retreat. I am thinking either Romania or Hungary. I am open to other options but I thought this would be a good starting place for the debate.

Here is the game plan...

Just like Cline's wedding the setting must be good. The locale must be cultural, historical and quaint. The town must have some good attractions for daily activities, but also encourage conversation and fellowship. Brady's weddin was great because it had the goods there. Good friends, good culture, good food, good wine and GOOD TIMES!!!!

So what I would like to see happen is some mutiple party research finding a good location in Eastern Europe. From there we can start doing the details of accomodations and activities. I welcome all ideas and information. This is just the starting place.

Some Ideas

Castles

Baths

Whatever you would like to see and do, just start researching.

Look for the date to be Late 2007 or early 2008

Happy Hunting
